Are there places, geographically, where casinos will let you take down don't bets in the middle of a game?

That a good question. Certainly, we know you cannot take down a Pass Line Bet, though you can take down Odds anytime.
When I am in LV next week for the Rio Tourney, I will do a surevy of the major casinos and get some consensus on that Rule. I like to take bets down sometimes too. Wink

with all due respect - i am suprised at the number of misconceptions here.

wrong-way betting is a much better approach to craps than right-way betting.

try it for yourself.  place Don't Pass bets and take odds (except on the 6 and Cool.  Follow up by taking as many Don'T Come bets as possible - also taking odds (except on the 6 and Cool

why is this better than right-way betting?

well - the odds on Don't Pass/Don't Come is slightly better than Pass/Come.   But - more importantly - when 7 is rolled a Pass/Come/Place better will lose ALL his money on the table.

a Don'T Pass player is not this vulnerable.  You can set up mutiple points using Don'T Come - each with free odds (which the casino has no advantage on) and there is NO roll of the dice that will lose ALL of your money on the table.

sure - you can lose each individual bet - individually.  but if the 7 shows up - YOU WIN THEM ALL.  and we all know the 7 is the most probable of showing up.

betting on the dark side is much more stable for you bankroll since there is NOT any one roll of the dice that can clear the table of all your money.

i often feel sorry for the suckers who play the Pass line and Place bets.  OBVIOUSLY this is what the casino wants you to do.  by calling labeling the Pass Line the winning line the casino is psychologically attempting to sell you the idea that that is the RIGHT side.

since when can you trust a casino to tell you which bets to place?

Actually, you will find quite a few of the advanced players and the game designer play Dont Pass often. As the game Help "How to Win" section indicates, the Seven is coming - you might as well get paid. It is often the case on a live table that the dealers clear everybody else's Pass Line bets and then pay my Dont Pass bet. I dont delight in others losing, just quietly pick up my winnings.

One thing "My Craps Game" is good at and was designed for is keeping a tally of the number of Passes made versus the number of Seven Outs. You will note it is almost always in favor of Seven Out after 20-30 passes.

And I can trust the live dealers to tell me the right rules and try to help, its still up to me to make my own wagers.

with all due respect...

WoW, I thought this board was dead. Glad 2 C it is not.

And it is a pleasure 2 welcome a fellow wronger wayer.

I am surprised to hear U say this site has an overtone of rightway betting. As Alan says, we have been stressing the advantages of the dark side. But there are times the right way is the way 2 go. There is one important thing U left out however. On a hot table the don't player will be wiped out real quick. So as Alan has said, there is money 2 B made each way.

This is how I determine witch way to go (it is remarkably similar 2 your strategy on the don't side)...  http://mycrapsgame.com/smf/index.php?topic=6.msg10#msg10

Don't forget, the majority of the players here are new to the game and there fore have been introduced to the "right way" to start off. This is the reason why (as U most likely know)...  http://mycrapsgame.com/smf/index.php?topic=6.msg50#msg50

Your other reasons 2 bet the dark side were great! Hope 2 hear more from U.
