Know the difference between having fun and making money in Craps

I like this line the author put in the how to play section because making money at any game is often tedious and repetitive. Sometimes, not very much fun if you do it right. That is why, to keep it interesting, I sometimes place the bets we shouldn't (hard ways, field, etc...). But I try to keep track of how long it has been sense they have come up. If you factor this into the odds, I think it must change them. Any thoughts?

Yeah, this is my motto when they clear the table of Pass and Place bets and pay my Dont Pass w/Odds.
I dont gloat, or even smile. Just quietly collect my chips.

So do you guys play the pass line for a while and then switch or start with Don't Pass?

Good Question.

This for me is the hardest decision. I can make money either way and have no emotional problems with betting the Dont.  I like to make a minimum bet for at least a few passes and see how the wind is blowing. Even that is not accurate as a streak may be just ending as I get there.

So do you guys play the pass line for a while and then switch or start with Don't Pass?

I've discovered in the game that once it turns you sure know it! You'll either need to walk away or start betting against, 'cause that's all you can do to keep your money.

I can stay afloat at this point, but I've been unable to make any money really. Just keep playing.

So,

After my last post I opened the game and picked up where I had left off. I had not been doing well so I had quit and came up here. I started on the pass line and 2 or 3 rolls into it, it was obvious that things were still not going well so I started playing the dark side. I took modest bets and large odds on the outside 4 numbers, declining 6 and 8, per Riches instructions. By doing this I was able to get my bankroll up to where I had started originally and then some. After a bit I switched back to the  pass line at - apparently - the right time and tripled my initial sum. This is the amount I started with at the very beginning.

Right place at the right time, but by paying attention you can tell when to move from one to the other. At least tell when to move from Pass to Don't Pass.

Alan,

Thanks soooo much for this teaching aid!!!

Now we're getting somewhere. I am delighted to know any buddy gained some insight to winning the game from this simulation I built for my own amusement.

As I have said, I can win either way, but struggle to know to bet with or against the shooter. Stats will show you 60-70% Seven Out. Your Scoreboard doesnt lie.  No one can tell you when the momentum changes and it does in small streaks. If they could, a Craps Table would be a Cash Feeding Trough.

Try this, if you lose the way you are playing 2 times in a row, reduce your bet to the table minimum until you see its "safe" to come out again. That can minimize your losses on a long Seven Out streak, which there are lots of. Or just play Dont Pass.

Keep trying different things on the no risk computer game.

Yes, and that is when a smile comes to my face. Because that is normal play. Your donations are well appreciated by the casinos  Tongue

Have you ever been at a table when the dealer announces "we've got a shooter"  after a string of people have sevened out? That may be a clue to be a right way better at that point. But it seldom lasts very long. Then it is back to the dark side fore me.

When to bet what is key!

Remember that the odds of you winning any bet in the casino are less than the casinos odds, they do that on purpose  Angry (I think the gaming commission should give us a fighting chance and make the odds even).

To win is to manipulate those odds the best you can; such as moving from one side to the other.

If you bet consistently for any amount of time, you will lose! But the casino will give you a coupon for a free buffet. Thank you & come again  Embarrassed

Well the Rio PH Parties were in April. Here pictures are 2 of the 30 supermodels they hired for the event, there was a carving station, sushi station, desert station and a full size bar made of ice they were serving martinis on. Hell of a good party.

As I said, it cost a lot (that trip). Its for the real players. They know babes, booze and food are things guys like... Grin

I can't win for losin' this dog gone game!

It seems to me that if you start with a certain amount, when you get to half or lower it's best to switch to Don't Pass and try to build your bank roll back up. But mostly I've just managed to whittle away at my cash 'till it's gone. :/

One thing I will say however is that - for instance - I put $10 on the pass line (trying to play like I will in Vegas) and put $2 on the "C" (the one with the circle around it). That way it'll cover the come out roll. It seems to save you cash in the long run.

I can play for an hour or so on my bankroll, but lately I've been losing it eventually. Just seems that the odds are never in my favor lately.
