On occasion I like to play the darkside.  Because I live 10 minutes away from my local casino, I limit myself to $100 per visit, with another $100 for backup some days.  So even though it's always a $5 min table, you can see I'm a low stakes player.
I usually try not to have much more than $30 at a time on the felt.  What is the advantage to laying odds that pay less than even money?
I could play $5 DP with odds and 1 or 2 DC with odds, but I like to play $10 DP and two $10 DC bets with no odds on any of these bets.

How would you guys/girls play with my limited bankroll?

When I play WITH the shooter, I just play pass line with odds and place the 6-8 for $6 each, pressing up to maybe $18 each after wins.

Hello Jeff

Good question. There's no doubt that Pass/Come bets with positive Odds are a bettor benefit. So why bet More to get Less on the Don't Side? Answer: because those bets come in and pay out. Thats a big reason. Its only a good bet if it comes in.

All of you that play the MCG simulation or play on a live table know that the shooter Sevens Out more than makes Points, over time. Sure you will get a hot shooter make 3,4,5 points in a row and then its back to Mostly Seven Outs.

This is typical:

Being that there is an 18% DIS-advantage during the Come Out roll, suffering the many Sevens and occasional Elevens, most Dark Side bettors will start with a modest Dont Pass and then take Odds. Note that on a standard Las Vegas 3,4,5X Odds table, how the math works is that you can bet up to 6X in Odds. A $10 Dont Pass bet can have up to $60 Odds on ALL points. This has to do with the actual Winning payout on the Dont side.

Recall the bottom line of this Standard Odds chart:

Thanks Alan.  That helps some.  So to sum it up:  Laying odds lets me get more money on these excellent bets without having to sweat the 7/11 before the bet goes to a number.  I'll have to play that way more with MCG to prove it to myself.
